Structure-borne noise is considered more annoying than airborne noise at the same noise levels due to the presence of low frequency humming by tonal structure resonance. Pumps, chillers and lifts are the common structure-borne noise sources in buildings. Structure-borne noise remedial measures can be very effective if the vibration transmission path(s) is identified.
